Before you get a gerbil

If you are going to get a gerbil you might have some questions.

 What will I need?

1. Cage or Aquarium
2. water bottle
3. Ceramic dish
4.shavings
5. food
6. wood and cardboard

What responsibilities will I have?

You will need to re-fill their food bowl everyday, Change the water, put more cardboard in (if needed) and play with them every day.

How much does it cost to own 1 or 2 gerbils?

It costs about $50 to keep 1-2 gerbils

Where is the best place to keep them?

In my opinion their cage should go somewhere warm where cats don't go, but not in your room, they are loud.
You should ask other people for their opinions too.

I hope I answered some of your questions. If you have any more that I didn't post here feel free to ask in the comments!

Last night my brother picked up the sister at the pet store. She's brown with a little white and has brown eyes. I will post  a picture of  then soon!

Also:
We named them! My Aunt actually suggested these names.... Sugar and Spice!
Brown- Spice
White- Sugar

Introducing.... (re-posted)

Hi, I just got a gerbil! I don't know how to upload pictures on here yet, so I will explain what she looks like. She's white with red eyes. We don't have a name for her yet.We will be getting her sister soon.

The pros and cons of keeping gerbils in your bedroom

The Pros:
* You can feed and water them right when you get up and when you go to bed
* You can clean the cage at the same time you clean your room

The Cons:
* The are noisy at night

Reasons for Cons:
They will chew cardboard and eat food in the middle of the night and that can keep you up.

Sorry this wasn't A very good post, I couldn't think of anything to write.

The Dangers of Not Having Something to Chew!

This Post is about how dangerous it can be to not have anything for your gerbil to chew on.
yesterday, when I went to bed, I forgot to put a new TP roll in their cage. I awoke this morning to the sound of chewing. Sugar was chewing the exercise wheel! When I shooed her away from that, she went to the side f the cage and tried cherwing on that! But she couldn't.  Chewing plastic can make your gerbils sick, so I got up, put a cardboard tube in, and went back to bed. When I woke up half an hour later, The tube was gone. I guess they REALLY needed to chew!

The Dangers:
1. Plastic can make gerbils sick if eaten
2. You'll have to invest in a new wheel or whatever they ate

Free and easy gerbil toys (re-posted)

Here's the re-posted version. It might not be exactly like the first one. I'm really mad at blogger for deleting them. Okay, Here it is:

Gerbil Toys:
1. TP rolls- Gerbil's teeth are always growing, so cardboard is great. This is the most common.
2. Egg cartons. These take longer for gerbils to chew through.
3. Any kind of box- boxes are good, because they give somewhere to hide, and something to chew!

There was originally four examples to this post, but I forgot the last one. i will update this if I remember it.

past posts disappered!

My past posts disappered!  Tommorow, I will re-post them (i really don't want to have to type all of those up again, it'll take 40 minutes! I might not have that much time to devote to the blog at one time) If not tommorow, soon.

~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~
i can't remember what the posts were! I re-posted Gerbil toys.
Trouble with Cats and Gerbils in the same room
One of my kittens got locked in my room with the gerbils! My mom heard mewing and went to investigate, she found the kitten at the door and Sugar and Spice's cage on the floor! Luckily, they were both fine. I need to vacuum now and they are a little scared. Another time, I brought their cage into the living room, because we got them a new ball and I wanted to let them run around the Open floor. the living room is big, unlike my bedroom, so It was great for them to run around in. The ball was way too big, and even with both of them in at the same time they couldn't move it. I need to get a smaller one really bad, well anyways, i put them back in their cage, and didn't take them back to my room, and the kittens an Gerbils were playing like a batting game. Kittems batting gerbils with paws, gerbils batting kittens with nose. LOL It was really funny. And another time the 4 kittes ran into my room and the gerbils started thumping.
